Nendoroid #421 Kirisaki Chitoge Bootleg Review

It has been a really long time since the last time i wrote in my blog. This time I want to write about hobby-related stuff, for starter i want to review about a nendoroid from romantic-comedy anime Nisekoi (False Love).

This image was taken
from nisekoi.wikia.com
Kirisaki Chitoge is one of the main heroine in the Nisekoi series. She is half Japanese and half Caucasian, making her a Hāfu. Due to this, her skin is fair and her complexion pale. Her eyes are a striking aqua blue and she has long blonde waist-length hair with a pink ombre. Coupled with her height - tall by most standards - and her voluptuous body figure, many people associate her with a supermodel. Her most notable feature is the red ribbon that she always uses to tie her hair. In the manga (and later in the anime too), it was noted that her ribbon looked like the one the girl on Kosaki's picture book had. All that characteristic has been faithfully converted into cute 10cm Nendoroid size.

The original version of this product was created, produced and distributed by Good Smile Company. It was released at 2015/09 with price ¥3,704 (Before Tax). Sadly, there's a counterfeit version of this product (which I'll review this time), so be aware when buying this Nendoroid.

DISCLAIMER: I DON'T CONDONE THE MANUFACTURING OF BOOTLEG NENDOROIDS. I DON'T SUPPORT THEM EITHER. ALSO I'M NOT PROMOTING THIS BOOTLEG NENDOROID. I BOUGHT THIS SOLELY FOR MY OWN ENTERTAINMENT.

The Box

Front View
The box has a white, orange, red, and blue color scheme combination which looks good and match the character. It has Chitoge's signature wink expression as the main picture in front of the box. The box itself isn't as thick and glossy as the original version, although the print and image quality looks pretty good.

Unboxing

Surprisingly this nendoroid has no seal / tape on it's box. It just has a tape around it's blister.

As you can see, it comes with pretty much optional parts. Inside the box are
- Nendoroid chitoge herself.
- 2 extra faceplates (a wink and a shock expression)
- 3 extra left hand
- 2 extra right hand
- 1 pair hand for holding her diary
- 1 extra hand
- 1 bent leg
- 1 diary
- 1 bag
- 1 promised key
- a standard nendoroid base

The Nendoroid and Accessories

This bootleg nendoroid has a pretty good quality and painting. Her faceplate, hair and other parts isn't shiny like most bootleg nendoroid. Her parts isn't loose, her base isn't clear transparent, and she has a good articulation.

Left side articulation

Wait a minute, I just curious why did Miku appear there at the wink pose? hahaha.. well she's our Songstress Diva so maybe she likes to pop out in front of camera, so just let it slide. After looking at the whole nendoroid, lets diassembly it

Then lets take a better look at her accessories

The Promised Key
*sorry i forgot to take a photo of her diary. Chitoge was too shy to hand it over to me

Its Shortcomings

Bootleg nendoroids always have an indicator showing that they are fake, including in this one. Some of them that i was able to detect are
1. Wrong expression
Default Faceplate
She has 3 faceplate. Her wink and shock expression looks perfect, but not for her default expression. If you take a closer look, you will realize that her eyes at the default expression differ slightly to the left (left on that picture).

2. Bad painting
School Bag
The silver paint on her school bag isn't looks right, you know why just by looking at the picture above. But since this part is so small, normally you'll not notice this.

3. Bad detail
Promised Key
The promised key isn't as detailed as the original one. But again, since this part is so small, normally you'll not notice this.

4. Wrong base and copyrights
Standard base
"Crypton Future Media" was written on her base as it's copyrights, while Chitoge and Nisekoi doesn't come from that company. The base arm also "a bit" different from the original. It's missing a 1cm straight part connector at the end of the arm which connect to the nendoroid. While this arm is still usable for chitoge, it limits her head articulation.

5. Old style expression parts
As from nendoroid #300 and up, GSC implemented a new sistem on the neck joint, allowing you to simply pull the fringe off and then you can directly remove and change the expression. But it's not the case in the bootleg nendoroids, including this one. It still implement the old style expression part where you have to remove the neck joint and fringe part before removing the expression from the head part.

6. Paint chip and discolored joint
Look at the pointed area
Bootleg nendoroids don't have a good quality control. So it's often to find a paint chip, wrong part, misscolored part, broken part, loose joint, loose part, etc. In this nendoroid, I got an additional red line on her front hair part. Luckily in a case like this, we can remove it using some trick (i'll write about this later).

Discolored joint
Original Chitoge Nendoroid joints have a same color with her skin, exception are the yellow joint at her ponytail and transparent joint at her waist. While in this nendoroid, her joints have a yellow-ish color, and her waist joint isn't transparent.

Conclusion

This bootleg nendoroid has a pretty good quality for a fake product. It mostly has a good detail, paint, and joint. I have bought some bootleg nendoroid since I started this hobby (I, like many of the newbie nendoroid collector, am a victim of bootleg product), and I can say that this is the best quality bootleg nendoroid that i've ever got. But if you can, it's better to spend more to get the original version since the original version is better.

When you buy the bootleg nendoroid, it'll feels like a pandora box. There's a possibility you can get a good one, but there's much.. much.. more possibility that you can get the opposite. In order to avoid getting dissappointed, it's much more preferrable to spend more money and do some research so that you can buy and get the original version. You can buy original nendoroid from GSC online shop, a trusted seller like amiami, a trusted seller in your area or a GSC official partner shop in your local country. You can see the list of GSC Official partner shop in this link.

That's all for today, thanks for reading..

  1. There is also a notable difference on the transparent clear base.
It says "Crypton Future Media Inc." instead of "Shaft - Aniplex" (in Japanese from the official version). The bootleggers were lazy to copy the wording and copyright of the character that came from the show and instead used the base from Nendoroid Hatsune Miku (the company that owned and created Miku).
